In the Atlas mountains in Morocco, flash floods arrive unexpectadly in the valleys due to deforestation and exessive pasture use up stream in the higher altitudes. These are occuring more frequently and have become more dangerous even though an early warning evacuation system has been put into place. But that is accepting the situation instead of planning how to prevent the disaster. High authorities may have heard about vetiver, but there is still preference to promote static and mechanical solutions such as gabions and cement walls. I have seen these destroyed after a several rainy seasons. Yet vetiver can grow in the same threatened regions. Thanks for providing examples of where storm mitigation with vetiver is working.cjuliardhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01097367808077285818noreply@blogger.com
