Highway slope stabilization in Indonesia

A very convincing trial has been demonstrated on a 70º laterite highway batter slope near Bundung, Indonesia. (this work was supported by the Indonesian Vetiver Network and TVNI). This is a great trial and the results are obvious even to speeding motorists! As a result of this trial, and backed by similar evidence from China and Vietnam, VS will be applied Indonesian wide to the highway network. The World Bank is also supporting its introduction. Those of you working and living in countries where VS is not being used to stabilize highway and railway slopes should draw the authorities attention to VS for slope stabilization. It will save the tax payer a lot of money, will be very effective, and will significantly reduce the cost of maintenance and chance of potential road closure from slope slippage.
