Before and after - stabilizing slope with VS and geo-fabric (PC - Paul Truong)
There are circumstances that warrant the use of geotextile matting in conjunction with the Vetiver System.  The former provides short term protection during the period that vetiver is establishing.  You can find a recent study "Use of Vegetation and Geo-Jute in Erosion Control of Slopes in a Sub-Tropical Climate"by Mohammad Shariful Islam, Shamima Nasrin, Md. Shahidul Islam, and Farzana Rahman Moury of  the Department of Civil Engineering, Bangladesh, University of Engineering and Technology, Dhaka-1000, Bangladesh. Also a photo essay by Paul Truong - Veticon, Australia - "Vetiver Grass System for Land Rehabilitation with Geo-Fabrics"

Similar treatments have been undertaken in other countries normally with good results.
